Worship and What It Means to Me

Ever been in a church service somewhere where you felt like they really don’t worship right? The drums are too loud, piano is off, the singers are not singing in time, the person next to me can’t clap and sing at the same time so they shouldn’t try. I probably just described about what some of ya’ll experience with worship somewhere if not at you own church every week. So let’s try to fix that.

We are going to look at what Jesus said about worship in John 4:23-24 (NLT) But the time is coming-indeed it’s here now-when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” Let’s break down what He said here so we can better understand what true worship is. First we’ll take the word worship the meaning is  (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literal or figurative) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore) :- worship.-Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary  It is used of an act of homage or reverence (a) to God,-Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words.

When you take the literal meaning of ‘like a dog licking his master’s hand’, you realize that when your looking at anyone else you are not look at The Master and worship is about Him. Another thing that Jesus said is the ‘True Worshipper’, so let’s look at the meaning of a true worshipper for a minute. This reference in John is the only place that is used and it means  an adorer -Strong’s Greek & Hebrew Dictionary and Vine’s says that it also means‘Temple Keeper’.

Here at Cowboy Church we believe that no matter who is leading worship, who is singing, or who is playing that it is our responsibility to enter into worship of our Father. We try to have a country beat, sing things that everyone likes but know that it is up to us each one for our worship of the one and only God!

Come and join us you can dance before the Lord, clap, stand up, sit down or run the isles. It is your worship to the most Awesome Father!
